What is the sample itinerary?
These are real trips designed for clients, with passions and parameters as wide-ranging as you can imagine.
We’re all about “made-to-order,” so don’t think of these trips as “ready-to-wear.” We want to whet your appetite and show you possibilities.
Have fun looking through one or two. See what makes your heart race. Then, call us and we will create a trip that’s perfect for you – with everything you want and nothing you don’t. That’s what we believe travel should be.
– Itinerary –
3 Nights –Fes 1 Night –Erfoud 1 Night –Sahara Desert 1 Night –Ouarzazate 3 Nights –Marrakech 3 Nights –High Atlas Mountains
DAY 1: CASABLANCA / FES
Drive inland through the Middle Atlas Mountains to Fes, where you will feel like you have stepped back six centuries into a medieval world.
DAY 2: FES
Highlights of your day: explore the tastes and smells in countless souks and the vibrant colors in Fes’ famous tanneries. Stop by the Bou Inania Medersa (Koranic university), the Foundouk Nejjarine, which has an excellent museum, and the shrine of Moulay Idriss II.
Head to the outskirts of Fes and enjoy a hike and picnic on Mt. Zalagh, where you’ll get to see the city spread below you at a distance.
DAY 3: FES
Explore the nearby ruins of Roman Volubulis. Dine as the Romans did with a picnic lunch overlooking the mysterious shapes of the ancient city.
Continue to Moulay Idriss (the holiest Muslim site in Morocco) and imperial Meknes, whose stables once held 12,000 horses.
DAY 4: ERFOUD / SAHARA
Make your way south from Fes to the edge of the Sahara and the Tafilet Oasis, the last stop on the trans-Saharan trading route before Timbuktu.
DAY 5: SAHARA
A 4×4 will take you to your private desert encampment. Climb the dunes to watch the unbelievable desert sunset before indulging in a delicious traditional Berber dinner.
Spend the evening losing yourself in the beauty of the Saharan sky.
DAY 6: SAHARA / OUARZAZATE
Wake early and ride up the dunes to watch the sun emerging from the east.
Journey west to Todgha Gorges, where you will hike through dramatic red rock cliffs before continuing to Ouarzazate.
DAY 7: OUARZAZATE / MARRAKECH
Spend the morning at the UNESCO-restored Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (the setting for such movies as Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia). Wind your way through the mountain pass of Tizn Tichka en route to Marrakech.
Spend the evening with your guide, strolling through the frenetic Djemaa el Fnaa, the greatest square in all of Africa. We will tell you our favorite place to enjoy tea and something sweet.
DAY 8: MARRAKECH
Highlights of your day: the Musee de Marrakech, housed in the sumptuous, 19th century Mnebhi Palace. Walk from souk to souk, browsing shops that sell everything from exotic spices to, carpets, jewelry, copper and much more.
DAY 9: MARRAKECH
Highlights of your day: breathe in the floral-scented air of the Majorelle Gardens, visit Marrakech’s famous dead at the opulent Saadien Tombs, and explore the fascinating Dar Si Said Museum of traditional crafts.
DAY 10: HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS
Depart Marrakech and climb into the breathtaking High Atlas Mountains where life moves at a slower pace, and the virtues of family and hospitality to strangers are held in high regard.
Spend the day swimming, biking or visiting a local Berber market.
DAY 11: HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS
Hike away the morning with a local mountain guide and support mules until you reach your luxurious picnic, perched high above the landscape. You may even be invited into a local home for mint tea.
DAY 12: HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS
Saddle up and rediscover the mountain trails, this time on horseback. Follow your mounted local guide through the ins and outs of this singular landscape.
